SDCA’s laptop and food box giveaway was a successful event that brought the community together. Mayor Todd Gloria and ssembly women Shirley Webber and Akilah Webber came out and showed their support for the community of San Diego at our event. The members of SDCA have committed themselves to contribute positively to the community and satisfying every need that they can. SDCA appreciates the support from Kathleen Harmon, a long that made our event so successful and our reach in the community so abundant.

San Diego Community Assist (SDCA)

Paving the way for a brighter San Diego. At San Diego Community Assist or (SDCA), we strive to embody the best of America. Whether it’s tackling homelessness, assisting community members with employment, or hosting educational programs, we set the foundation to shape bold dreams.

San Diego Community Assist (SDCA) is a nonprofit organization that focuses on the major issues of San Diego, California. The company wants to help solve homelessness, assist teachers and students with education programs, provide employment support, and help with the housing shortage. We also aim at reducing the crime rate by creating programs and services to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Mission

The mission of SDCA is to improve the quality of life in San Diego, California by providing business, medical, educational, and social services to people in need as well as provide opportunities for career building and training. Additionally, we are committed to making an impact on the demand for new housing.

Problem

Home to 1.426 million population, San Diego is the 8th largest city in the United States. The city has been facing major homelessness, housing, education, and climatic issues for the past few years. According to the latest US Census figures, the poverty rate in the City of San Diego came to 12.9%, which was the third highest poverty rate in 2018. Despite high labor force participation rates, poverty in numbers has not decreased giving rise to housing crunch and homelessness. Further, school districts across San Diego County are facing looming budget crises. San Diego is known for its beaches, parks, and warm climate. However, San Diego air quality suffers from frequent and prolonged periods of unhealthy ozone pollution. San Diego smog, or visible air pollution, is among the nation’s worst. For the 5th year in a row, San Diego is rated 6th nationally for worst ozone pollution out of 229 included metropolitan areas.

Opportunity

Paving the way for a brighter San Diego, at San Diego Community Assist (SDCA), we strive to embody the best of America. Whether it is tackling homelessness, assisting community members with employment, or hosting educational programs, we set the foundation to shape bold dreams. This can be seen in our efforts including the ambitious goal of reducing homelessness by 30% in the span of 5 years, eventually building over 20,000 homes in the next 8-10 years. Our organization represents the diverse members of the community. We promote small acts of service to ignite the desire for generosity within ourselves and others. Through our united community efforts, we develop a better quality of life.

Financial Consideration

In order to implement successful operations and achieve the financial projections herein, the current financial plan of SDCA includes obtaining funding through grants and other financing programs. The Organization hopes to begin securing the requested funds sometime in the first quarter of the year 2021. It will use the funding to cover expansion; research and development; purchase property; support education provision to students through funded scholarships; provide well-needed services for women, men and youth; as well as to cover the salary expenses and operation capital.

The major focus for grant funding is as follows:

1. It will provide youth educational services and career training skills.
2. It will sponsor programs that will improve the housing crunch in San Diego.
3. Hire employees; the organization will look to hire veterans, minorities and the unemployed.

Support for Community Assistance & Development Program in San Diego

The year 2020 has been one of loss, lessons and learnings. It has left everyone in a state of sheer panic, more than ever and rightfully so. A lot of people have lost their jobs and livelihood. Homelessness and unemployment are at an all-time high. While the end might not be anywhere near in sight, it is important for us to come together and start rebuilding our hopes, dreams and our community for a better tomorrow.

San Diego Community Assist (SDCA) is a non-profit organization that is committed to dealing with and solving social issues like homelessness, unemployment, housing shortage and provide assistance to teachers and students to build a strong scholastic community in San Diego, California. Our mission here is to make sure that every step we take towards community support and development is a leap forward in improving the quality of life of people in San Diego. We are passionate about providing business, medical, educational, and social services to people in need as well as provide opportunities for career building and training. Our efforts are reflected in our vision, one of which is to reduce homelessness by 30% over a period of 5 years by building over 20,000 homes. In addition to this, we also encourage and support students and entrepreneurs in their dreams.

We promote small acts of service because we believe in their power to make a big difference in the lives of people. It is through your support that we have achieved our goals until now and going forward, it is through your support that we will be able to build a strong, educated, self-sufficient and prosperous community in San Diego. For this reason, we are here to ask for your donations to help kickstart our plan to purchase and develop housing property, support educational programs for students, provide scholarships and well-rounded services for women and men alike. Your donations will further be used to pay for the salary and operational expenses incurred in creating and executing our community development programs.
