A hug is a form of human endearment and compassion that is universal to every culture on every continent and can be used to display a myriad of different emotions.
It can be used during a celebration to congratulate someone, share the pain with someone, relieve stress, show someone you love them, or even start a new relationship with someone you’re meeting for the first time.
So for this first day, give someone a hug. While some may not think it, a hug is one of the most powerful gestures you can give to someone, and it can start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.
That’s what we’re all about! Starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion. So now you know, the 12 Days of Giving campaign is all about giving back to the community in meaningful ways.
If you want to join us and contribute to the community, all we ask is that you give someone a big, loving hug! If you are interested in supporting our cause, even more, we’re raising money with a go fund me aimed towards helping kids this holiday season.

Over these last couple of years, we lost one of our most valuable resources: Time. Time spent with our families, friends, and loved ones. Time we can never get back. So by giving your time, you can provide something truly special to someone that needs it.
Take the time to acknowledge the less fortunate instead of ignoring them. Take the time to listen to loved ones and listen. Take the time to give back to those that need it the most.
With something that we take for granted, you can be the change you want to see in the world, and that’s what the 12 Days of Giving are trying to inspire! To make a meaningful change from the ground up.
If you want to join us and contribute to the community, all we ask is that you give someone a few minutes of your time today! Lend a helpful hand or a shoulder to cry on. Anything helps. If you are interested in supporting our cause, even more, we’re raising money with a go fund me aimed towards helping kids this holiday season.

Sometimes it’s hard not to get caught up in all the crazy things that happen in life. From work to personal relations and everything in between, it’s easy to lose track of what matters most.
The 3rd day of the 12 days of giving campaign aims to connect the community by lending a helping hand or ear, and you can make a meaningful connection. We want these 12 days of giving to be a way to uplift the community in every way possible, no matter how big or how small.
Stress is more prominent during the holiday season because most people live at 100mph. It’s easy and helpful to reassure the people working hard by letting them know that it’s not all for naught. You can ensure your family knows that they’re loved. You could even tell a stranger that good days are coming because something that simple could be the catalyst for incredible inspiration.
Thank you for all of the support and contributions you’ve made with the community and us thus far. With our events, we want to reassure families this holiday season that someone is looking out for them, and our goal is to show that not just the SDCA but the entire community has their backs.
Feel free to donate your time or to the GoFundMe below so that we can provide to these families the best quality food, toys, and opportunities this holiday season!
To give and spread joy is the cornerstone of the holiday season. It’s a time to show people that you care and take some time from our busy schedules to make sure that the people in your lives and communities are better off and fulfilled by spreading holiday cheer.
The 4th day of the 12 days of giving campaign aims to start a chain reaction within the community of joy and understanding so that people know that they are not alone. That if you can find joy in the little things then you can continue to spread that joy to more people and so on.
No matter how small, a person’s can never have too much joy and happiness in their lives. The more joy you have in your life the more likely you are to give some of it to the people around you. So spread joy!
Donating is a great way to spread joy to the community in a very effective way but we also encourage people to give in any way they can. You can volunteer your time to help out the less fortunate or even volunteer your resources to show that you care. Every little thing helps.
Laughter lightens your burdens, inspires hope, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. It also helps you release anger and forgive sooner. So all of those moments laughing until you cried are a good release of stress and are good for your health.
So for day 5 of the 12 days of giving, we encourage you to try and make somebody laugh. Call your loved one that you haven’t talked to in a while or even make a new friend at the line in the grocery store. Making someone laugh is the best way to put a smile on not only somebody else’s face but yours as well.
Laughter is universal. Even though everyone has different tastes and senses of humor, we all love to laugh at the end of the day. So making someone laugh is one of the greatest gifts you can give someone.
We appreciate all the support and contributions you have participated in with us so far and are forever grateful. We can’t wait to update you on the many ways you can spread love and compassion to the community. An easy way to spread joy is with our Turkey and toys giveaway coming up, and whether you come by to volunteer, donate to help with the cause, or stop by for the festivities, know that your contribution is appreciated.
It is basic human nature to seek out comfort and it is different for everyone in what we find comfortable and what comfort is. For some, it’s a meal they remember from childhood. Maybe it’s indulging in their favorite hobby.
This, the 6th day of the 12 days of the Christmas campaign, we want you to go out of your way and try to make somebody feel comfortable. Help someone that looks stressed at work when you don’t have to. Wrap your loved ones in a warm blanket when they’re just sitting on the couch. Who knows, they just want to pass on that comfort.
Unfortunately, not everyone has the time or the resources to feel comfortable all of the time. For some of the less fortunate comfort is a warm meal or roof over their head for the night.
We want to share this comfort with the community and if you want to join us and contribute to the community we are giving away turkey and toys to families in need and we’re raising money with a GoFundMe aimed towards helping kids this holiday season. so that they have one less thing to worry about this holiday season. If this can somehow provide comfort to any families or people in need then we have done our job.
Day 7 of giving is dedicated to giving love. Many people in our community and in this world don’t feel as if anyone loves them. While this may seem like a given to many, this is exactly what they need to put a smile on their face.
So in light of this, the SDCA encourages you to show love to someone you feel may need it. Showing love can be as easy as saying “Good Morning” to someone who doesn’t usually get one or taking the time to understand someone else through conversation.
No matter what approach you take, showing love can serve as a light in whatever darkness they feel life has placed them in. This Holiday season spread love.
While you continue to spread the love at home and around the community, you can also help the SDCA spread love through various means. The SDCA is hosting our turkey and toy drive and our grocery store takeover. If you would like to become a part of these events or help ease the burden of these events on us, then please consider donating to our GoFundMe link below. We appreciate every donation we get, and we can’t wait to give back to the community in as many ways as we know.
A critical skill that most people take for granted is the ability to listen. While we can all appreciate some good advice, sometimes we don’t want advice and want a safe space to vent.
On this 8th day of giving, we motivate you to offer someone a listening ear. Instead of trying to uplift, today, try just listening. Instead of trying to advise from your perspective, try to encourage them.
Listen! Don’t undercut their emotions and instead try to support their feelings. Don’t try to replace their sadness with happiness. Alternatively you can make them not feel lonely in their sadness. So today do what most people forget to do in conversation.
Every little bit counts! We try to listen to every voice in the community and make sure they are heard so if you want to join us and contribute to the community, we are giving away turkey and toys to families in need. Come listen to their stories and help out so that they have one less thing to worry about this holiday season. If you are interested in doing even more, you can check out our GoFundMe and support our cause to continue doing events like this to better the community.
In life, pride will often prevent us from having the strength to ask for help when we truly need it. Sometimes offering to lend someone a helping hand will make more of a difference than you realize.
For this 9th day of giving, try going out your way to help someone who could use it. If you see someone struggling, offer to help them finish whatever tasks they are in the process of completing. Even if they say no, sometimes just knowing someone wanted to help gives them all the motivation they need to keep going and finish. You never know what’s going on in someone’s life, and being able to recognize that and offering your services can impact a life in a way you never way to use this valuable time than to help make other people smile. Oftentimes in life when you help other people, you end up helping yourself too. If you would like to give a hand or show support to the SDCA and the many events we are putting on, please consider donating to the GoFundMe linked below to help us make San Diego imagined.
Giving a hand is one of the easiest ways to spread joy and positivity and is also one of the most neglected forms of assistance. While we understand time is precious, we also can’t think of a better shine.

Typically these “days of giving” have focused on how to help others, but this day will be more internal. It’s easy to take for granted that how you see yourself can impact how others see you.
The 10th day of giving is dedicated to spreading positive energy in as many facets as you can imagine. The smallest changes to your behaviors can have the most significant changes in other people’s lives and perceptions of you.
So today, spread positivity to others by giving it to yourself. Look in the mirror and take the time to see just how beautiful and perfect you are. Take the time to look back at your life and applaud yourself for how far you’ve come.
Don’t allow negativity to spread to others and instead let your love for yourself to spread to others. This subtle change given yourself will reflect a much more significant difference in the world around you.
We hope you enjoy these days of giving, and we’ve truly enjoyed finding ways to spread positivity this holiday season.
On this day, we ask you to look inside. Are you making a positive difference in the world with the right intentions? We wanted to shine a light on this point because we at the SDCA believe it’s important to give from the heart. To give from the heart implies you don’t need anything in return except that person’s smile and uplifted spirits.
To give back from the heart means you can focus purely on the other person’s struggle without feeling the obligation or desire to highlight yours. So on this 11th day of giving, we ask you to continue to give in the best way you know how, but make sure it’s from the heart. Make sure you care more about making the other person happy than trying to highlight your personal needs.
As we near the end of our days of giving, we wanted to highlight an aspect of giving that is often disregarded: giving from the heart. To give from the heart implies you do it purely because it will make someone else happy and not because you expect anything in return.
We want to thank you for continuing to be a part of our 12 Days of Giving. We love showing as many ways to spread joy as we can.
For the last day of giving, we wanted to invite you to share what we feel is the essential aspect of the holidays and positivity in general… Hope!! Hope is defined as “a feeling of trust.” To build trust with someone is equivalent to making them feel comfortable and safe around you.
With hope, you are unstoppable! With hope, you are untouchable! With hope, you are influential! With hope, you are a light that can shine in the darkness of the hopeless. With hope, you are a spark that will never go out. Hope is the number 1 tool that can help provide a new lens for the outlook of life.
We want to thank you for supporting us through the holiday seasons, and we hope you enjoyed our 12 days of giving posts. The SDCA wanted to do something that everyone can do and help make the holidays better across all fronts, and we hope you were able to take these days and offer positivity. Even after the holidays, please continue to give!! People can always use a hug, your time, reassurance, joy, laughter, comfort, love, a listening ear, a helping hand, positive energy, your heart, and last hope.
Thank you so much.
